rather ....than... 用法

rather ....than...

1)He would rather beg in the streets than get money in such dishonest way. 2)I'd rather take the slowest train than go there by air. 1)He was engaged in writing rather than reading the newspaper. 2)It ought to be you rather than me that sign the letter. 3)She telephoned rather than wrote. 4)He is to be pitied rather than to be disliked. 5)I will do it myself rather than ask him to do it. 1)He is an artist rather than a philosopher. 2)He lay rather than sat in his armchair.

would

rather

not

do

sth。would

rather。例如:

I”d

rather

stay

at

home

on

Sunday

I”d

rather

not

go

there

today

would

1

肯定式(would

rather

do

sth)

I”d

rather

have

some

rice

I”d

rather

go

there

on

foot

2

否定式would

rather

not

do

sth

I”d

rather

not

see

her

again

Mr

Li

not

listen

to

rock

music

3

Would

you

rather

stay

here

or

go

home

Which

would

you

rather

have,

apples

or

bananas

rather…than…

I

would

rather

have

noodles

than

rice

I

would

rather

go

to

work

by

bike

than

by

bus

I

would

rather

talk

with

his

mother

than

with

his

father

He

It’s rather difficult

I was rather angry at what he said 我对他说的话相当生气。

This carpet’s getting rather old now 这块地毯现在很旧了。

I’m afraid our team’s doing rather badly

We were rather tired after our long walk

I feel rather well today

The new law has affected rather a lot of people

The weather was rather worse than I had expected

This hotel is rather more expensive than that

He talks rather too much 他说得实在太多了。

I’ve been to rather too many parties recently

1 or rather

She lives in London, or rather she lives in a suburb of London

I explained to him how far things had got, or rather had not got

He ran rather than walked

You are doing this for yourself rather than for me

It was what he meant rather than what he said

3 would rather(than)… 宁愿…(而不愿):I’d rather walk than take a bus 我宁愿走路而不愿乘公共汽车。

He would rather have the small one than (have) the large one

Frank is clever but rather lazy

I did rather well in that test—better than expected

I rather like him 我很喜欢他。

She rather enjoys doing nothing

It rather surprised me 那事使我相当惊讶。

I rather think we’re going to lose

We were rather hoping you could stay to supper

He is rather a fool

That’s rather a silly question= That’s a rather silly question

4would rather(宁愿)的用法说明:

We’d rather not go 我们宁愿不去。

Wouldn’t you rather live here 你不愿住在这儿

I’d rather have gone to the theatre last night

We’d rather have told her the news

I’d rather you went now (tomorrow)

I’d rather he hadn’t done that 我希望他没有做过那事。

He would rather walk than take a bus

She would rather have the small one than the large one

I’d rather like the film

I decided to stay at home rather than (to) go [going] to the cinema

Rather than waste [wasting] your time doing it yourself, why don’t you call in a builder

Rather than use [using] the last of my cash, I decided to write a cheque

The teacher rather than the students is to blame

int 当然啦,怎么不;

rather的例句

1 Rather taken aback by such forwardness, I slammed down the phone

2 The process is not a circle but rather a spiral

3 I gradually got rather disillusioned with the whole setup of the university

4 She was in rather a bad film about the Mau Mau

5 I had a busy day and was rather tired

6 Circumstances dictated that they played a defensive rather than attacking game

Poultry is rather cheap now

His general state of health is fairly satisfactory

1、rather than 与would 连用时,构成“would rather…than…”

Shed rather die than lose the children

He is an explorer rather than a sailor

You rather than I are going to go camping

The sweater she bought was beautiful rather than cheap

We will have the meeting in the classroom rather than in the great hall

She enjoys singing rather than dancing

We should help him rather than he should help us

I decided to write rather than (to) telephone

Rather than allow the vegetables to go bad,he sold them at half price

He ran rather than walked
