2004年8月25日，XX市与澳大利亚凯恩斯市正式结为友好城市，并合作建设中澳友谊花园，用绿色展示两市人民的良好友谊，是两市人民友好的象征。
公园由澳洲花园城市设计公司设计，由XX市城建设计院完成细化工作及施工图设计。公园位于海湾大桥桥头，占地面积为34.6公顷，分为三个景区，并以水体贯穿，营造体现澳洲风情和中国南方海滨风光特色。主要景点有澳洲园、红林大道、灯塔广场、滨湖木栈道、品果轩、玉林植物观赏区等，红林大道种植凯恩斯市捐赠的火焰树、金花树和XX市市花：紫荆花，象征着两市的事业如花似锦，友谊像花一样艳丽。

南国热带花园

位于赤坎区和开发区交界处，占地64公顷，是一个集生态保护、科普教育、休闲娱乐与观赏文化为一体，富有热带园林植物景观特色的市级综合性中心花园。南国热带花园四周城市道路环绕，西临人民大道与公安警备中心相隔，南边文东路、北边体育南路与海滨大道相接。按规划院内依功能可分为六区，分别是：入口景观区、青少年活动区、农业生态观赏区、休闲游赏区（主园区）、野外科普营区、南国佳果区。
南国热带花园于2006年7月动工建设，按计划于2007年春节期间基本完成主要绿化种植，整个建设贯穿以人为本的理念，反映XX市的民俗风情，凝聚XX市的历史文化，蕴涵时代精神，传承城市文明，将成为XX市的中心花园。

百乐园是麻章区1994年建区以来在该区建设的第一个公园。百乐园地处麻章瑞云路与麻遂路的交汇角内的城区中心地段，总面积16亩。原来是附近居住区排放生活废水的水塘，为下决心整治该地段，先实施了全面系统的整治。通过引渠治污，彻底解决该片区生活污水的排放难题。又在2005年5月动工进行绿化改造，并于当年国庆节完工。公园的建设因地制宜，把原来两个污水塘改建为现在的上下两个景观水面，湖边建造水榭、休息廊、花架廊、小广场，供游人闲庭散步。现在的百乐园曲桥迂回，湖边水榭辉映，小径林荫，杨柳绿影，湖水清澈，成了居民休闲娱乐的好场所。
