◆talk 焦点放在说话行为的 「谈」(内容并不重要)
◆speak 「说」特定语言或「谈」演说等有条理的内容(不一定要有倾听对象)
「健谈」这样的形容词是talkative,但是动词的talk聚焦于有倾听对象的谈论行为,使用于谈论内容并不重要的情境中。基本上是个不及物动词。
例如,老师上课时对着在教室吵闹的学生说,Why are you talking all the time(你为什么老是在聊天?)
例: People will talk(人言可畏。)
talk做为及物动词,有以下用法。
例: talk nonsense(胡说八道) talk business(谈生意)
talk+人+into(out of)~(说服人去做(不做)~)
而名词的talk也常用于内容并不重要的情境之中。
例: all talk(闲聊) baby talk(呀呀儿语) girl talk(好姊妹聊天)
另一方面,speak则用于「出声说话」、「说出语言」、「演说」等,从短话到长话各种不同种类的言语表达。
例: Can you speak a little louder (可以说大声一点吗?)
例: I can’t speak French (我不会说法语。)
例: I’m not good at speaking in public (我不擅长在人前说话。)
speak与talk不同,不一定需要倾听对象,基本上是说出有条理的内容。
任何人都能在伦敦海德公园一角自由演说。那里有所谓的「演说者之角(Speaker’s Corner)」,这个speaker意指「演说者」。
Speaker还有「扩音器」的意思,如果是a good English speaker,还有「擅长说英文的人」等含意。
这个词汇的名词形是speech,这基本上也是说出有条理的内容,所以用来表现「演说」、「发言」、「口语」等意。
